Jason’s Deli
SITUATION
Jason’s Deli puts freshness and variety first, so when the design team developed a brand new décor package, revamping their look meant staying true to their company philosophy by choosing warm, natural colors and high-quality, organic materials. Califonia-based design firm, Menemsha Solutions looked no further than Lamin-Art’s Naturals Abacá series to effortlessly seam eco-friendliness and sophistication.
Our goal was to make the whole décor, a more organic, warmer and natural space.
— Christine Juckett, Senior Art Director, Jason’s Deli Brand Management Team
OBJECTIVE
The decision to use Naturals Abacá designs was a no-brainer for Jason Deli. Beyond the eye-catching, nature-inspired hues, the environmental benefits of these designs give the collection a distinctive appeal that was in line with Jason’s already environmentally-focused design, which includes LED lighting, recycled paper packaging and non-VOC paints. In fact, Jason’s Deli, which offers many organic products, was the first major restaurant concepts to completely eliminate artificial trans fats from their menu.
Although Lamin-Art’s environmentally-conscious designs were a huge factor in the design team’s decision to utilize the Abacá series, there was another issue that played an even larger role: durability.
As far as durability, we needed a material that was going to uphold the work that goes on daily in the deli. For that reason, Lamin-Art’s Abacá is the product that works best for us and for what we do.
— Donald Newman, Project Manager of Remodels, Jason’s Deli
DESIGN
When updating their design prototypes for new construction and remodels, the design and brand management teams worked in tandem to source colors that stayed true to the Jason’s Deli brand image, while providing a fresh environment. The warm, natural colors of the Abacá Naturals series were key to this transformation, as they created a unified décor in all delis.
During their next design renewal, Jason’s Deli implemented its Refresh design program with the intention of bringing new life to all of their restaurant locations and creating a comprehensive and unified décor. The aim was to create cohesiveness, so that all customers could experience the same dining atmosphere no matter their location. The Refresh program also sought to create an organic flow in each restaurant. Tying the Jason’s Deli branding together, the recycled banana fibers in the Naturals Abacá series provided the organic look and naturally dimensional surface the Jason’s Deli team was looking for.
I’ve been with Jason’s for almost 20 years. Since then we have implemented five new décor packages. The current prototype is the most comprehensive—from the exterior to the interior to our newly designed flow plan.
— Christine Juckett, Senior Art Director, Jason’s Deli Brand Management Team
The restaurant’s newest design prototype, implemented by Innovative Design Architecture, Inc., now offers a more dynamic seating area from which customers can enjoy their meals. For example, the addition of nooks and crannies created the need for different sized tables. Once again, Lamin-Art’s Naturals Abacá surface effortlessly rose to the occasion.
